A legacy built on hard work and integrity

The Fowler story began with Billy Fowler, whose early life shaped the work ethic, determination and integrity that would later define the organization. Born in Waxahachie, Texas, Billy learned the value of hard work at a young age, working alongside his father in the cotton fields before taking a job at a local supermarket while still in school. His path into the automotive industry started in 1957, when he entered the car business as a salesperson in Dallas, Texas.

After years of learning the industry and building his career, Billy moved his family to Oklahoma in 1965 for a sales management position. In 1973, he purchased his first Toyota dealership in downtown Norman, Oklahoma, laying the foundation for what would become the Fowler organization.

From one dealership to a growing organization

Over the years, Billy Fowler’s first dealership grew into a larger automotive organization with a corporate office, an auto detail and accessory shop, and 11 dealerships across Oklahoma and Colorado. Today, the Fowler organization represents brands such as Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen, Ford, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Kia, supported by nearly 800 employees.

The Fowler legacy also continued through the family. Billy’s sons, Michael and David, joined the business, along with his son-in-law Donald Griffin. Michael Fowler became instrumental in guiding the company through years of growth, helping establish it as a recognized industry leader. Today, Jonathan Fowler, Michael’s son, serves as President of Fowler Holding Company.

Through each generation, the message has remained the same: live with honesty, conduct business with integrity and create a dealership experience customers can trust.
